Dr Anne Ireland has been named North Shore Woman of the Year 2025.

Dr Ireland was recognised for her contributions to education, advocacy for young women, and commitment to the local community. She has served as principal at two prominent girls’ colleges over an 18-year career, fostering an environment of empowerment, academic excellence, and personal growth.

Dr Ireland recently retired as Principal of Marist Sisters College, Woolwich.

She recently retired from Marist Sisters College in Woolwich, where she was Principal from 2015-2024.

Announcing the award, Member for North Shore Felicity Wilson said Dr Ireland’s work extended beyond school campuses, influencing broader educational practices and community initiatives.

“She is also known for her published works, such as “Consent & Respect” and “Integration of Wellbeing & Curriculum,” which reflect her commitment to advancing educational practices,” Ms Wilson told Mosman Collective.

Dr Ireland is also a strong advocate for community health, participating in events like the Balmoral Burn.

“And beyond education, Anne has been a strong advocate for community health, participating in local events like the Balmoral Burn and Balmoral Ocean Swim for Cancer.

She is also involved in the North Sydney Parish Council and the Independent Girls Schools’ Alliance.

“Dr Ireland’s contributions to education and her tireless commitment to empowering young women are inspiring,” Ms Wilson said.

The NSW Local Women of the Year award recognises women for their outstanding contribution to their local community as businesswomen, role models, volunteers, leaders and mentors.
