North Sydney Council is looking for a new Parking Ranger, who could make up to $80,000 per year before superannuation.

North Sydney Council is on the hunt for a Parking Ranger to join its crack team of highly productive officers.
The successful applicant will make up to $79,481 per year plus superannuation.

Parking tickets are a major source of revenue for the council, with $9 million expected to be raised by the end of the financial year.
Currently advertised on the council’s website, the position calls for a “self-motivated” new employee to be part of the multi-disciplinary Parking Services Team.
“You will be responsible for upholding the entire spectrum of on-street laws governing the parking of motor vehicles in the North Sydney Council local government area,” it reads.
“This is an excellent opportunity for those who enjoy being active, working outdoors and as part of a team.”

The job advertisement states Council offers up to 7.81% in shift allowances, and a $1000 “transport allowance” each year.
The job description includes foot patrols, issuing infringement notices, preparing court statements and attending court hearings if necessary.
Full-time hours are 38 per week, and the work is between 7:30 am and 10.00 pm on a rotating shift roster over seven days.
The position also offers up to 7.81% in shift allowances, and a $1000 “transport allowance” each year.

Information obtained by Mosman Collective shows 42,987 tickets have been issued between July 2024 and March 2025.

The rollout of the LGAs cashless parking system has been criticised by many residents, who have accused the Council of “price gouging”.
In 2024, North Sydney Council told Mosman Collective there are currently 15 Parking Officers employed, with an additional 12 Rangers “who occasionally issue parking fines amongst other tasks.”
Council’s 2024/25 budget shows it is expecting to generate $9m from parking and ranger services this financial year, with records from Revenue NSW showing 42,987 tickets have been issued between July 2024 and March 2025.
