It’s one of Sydney’s most iconic properties – a three-tiered Mediterranean masterpiece perched above Middle Harbour that locals know simply as the Wedding Cake House.
Now, after more than fifty years in the same family, the Seaforth landmark is officially for sale with a price guide of $9 million.

The home was built in 1982 for just $93,000 and has remained completely unchanged.
Built in 1982 and unchanged ever since, the three-tiered mansion has captivated generations of commuters crossing the Spit Bridge and remains one of the most recognisable homes on the lower north shore. But until now, few have known the story behind its creation.
The 1100-square-metre block was purchased sight unseen in 1979 for just $93,000 by Greek-Australian couple Nikolaous and Kiriaky Dimitriadis – he a painter-builder from Athens, she a dressmaker from the tiny island of Lipsi.

The five-bedroom, three-bathroom mansion features soaring columns, arched balconies and concrete statues.

The pair met in a Drummoyne milk bar and went on to raise a family and built their great Australian dream.
Inspired by classical Greek, French and Italian architecture, Nikolaous worked with architect Robert Blackmore to design a five-bedroom, three-bathroom showpiece featuring soaring columns, arched balconies and statues that wouldn’t look out of place in a European villa.
Inside, there’s a grand formal entry with a hand-carved staircase and “stalactite ceiling”, plus a chandelier that still sparkles. The main living areas are on the middle level, while bedrooms downstairs open to a sun-drenched terrace with sweeping 180-degree views over Middle Harbour.

For decades, the home hosted countless parties, celebrations and Sunday lunches – but its heart always remained with the Dimitriadis family. When Nikolaous passed away just three years after it was built, Kiriaky and her children continued to live in the home, preserving it just as it was intended.
In 2023, Mosman Collective was granted exclusive access to the property – a rare chance to step inside the iconic residence and showcase its untouched splendour.
From its original European finishes to the nostalgic floorplan and opulent detailing, the interiors left no doubt that the home was built with both passion and pride. The story resonated across Sydney, with readers flooding our inbox to share their own memories of passing the home over decades.

The iconic mansion will go to auction on September 10.
Now, the next chapter is ready to be written.
A pending DA allows for a pool and pontoon to be added, offering enormous potential for boating enthusiasts and families seeking a waterfront lifestyle.
The property will go under the hammer on 10 September.
