Neutral Bay has just scored itself a spicy new neighbour – and locals are already buzzing.

Randwick’s cult-favourite Bombay Bloomers has opened a second restaurant on Grosvenor Street, bringing its much-loved mix of authentic flavours, allergy-friendly twists, and modern flair to the lower north shore.

Since taking over the Randwick kitchen in 2022, Varinder Singh has earned a loyal following for food that celebrates the true flavours of India.

Chef-owner Varinder Singh, who first learned to cook alongside his grandmother, has built a reputation for food that’s big on heart without the heavy-handed spice.

“Neutral Bay felt like the natural next step for Bombay Bloomers,” Singh said. “It has such a vibrant dining scene, and we wanted to bring our style of Indian food here, dishes that are full of flavour, never overpowering, and always cooked with care.”

Mr Singh told Mosman Collective he learned to cook from his grandmother.

Singh’s nut-free Butter Chicken is a family recipe that’s creamy – and allergy friendly.

Every curry is made individually, with highlights including Singh’s nut-free butter chicken, a slow-cooked lamb rogan josh layered with Kashmiri spices, and the Bombay Bloomers Thali – a complete feast for one that covers all bases.

And if you’ve still got room, dessert is sorted: think gulab jamun – soft milk dumplings fried and soaked in rosewater syrup.

Bombay Bloomers is now open at 1/19–21 Grosvenor Street in Neutral Bay.

The drinks list also pulls its weight, with playful cocktails infused with Indian flavours that are designed to spark conversation just as much as they complement the food.

Inside, the fit-out mixes tradition and modern Sydney polish.

Expect meals served in bronze and brass tableware, set against deep green, gold and pink interiors – all warm, vibrant and very Instagram-worthy.

The drinks list adds its own sense of theatre.

Singh’s journey from dishwasher at Maya Sweets in Surry Hills to chef-owner is one of passion and persistence, transforming the Randwick original into one of the suburb’s busiest restaurants.

“My grandmother taught me to cook with patience and balance, to let ingredients shine and never hide behind too much spice,” Singh says. “That lesson is still at the heart of Bombay Bloomers today.”

Bombay Bloomers Neutral Bay is now open at 1/19–21 Grosvenor Street. Lunch is served daily from 11:30am to 3:30pm, with dinner from 5:00pm to 10:00pm.
