One of North Sydney’s most popular pubs, with a storied history spanning 150 years, could be yours for just $1 million.

The leasehold of local landmark the Treehouse Hotel, located at 60 Miller St, is up for grabs with broker Tom Cullen from Manenti Quinlan and Associates.

Located at 60 Miller Street, the pubs occupies a 778.8sqm ground floor position.

The prime site has been occupied as a hotel since the 1870s, originally opening as the Federal Hotel.

In the 1930s, the original building was demolished to make way for a Pacific Highway upgrade, following the opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Fast forward ten years a new Art Deco hotel was constructed in 1939, the same year North Sydney Council held a naming ballot for the newly created intersection – eventually deciding on “Victoria Cross” – believed to honour Australian World War I servicemen.

Originally known as the Federal Hotel, the prime site has a 150 year-old history.

The hotel subsequently adopted the name Victoria Cross Hotel in 1940 and traded under that identity until its demolition in 1983.

“With the development of the current commercial tower in the late 1980s, a hotel once again occupied the ground floor, initially operating as Victoria Cross Bar,” Mr Cullen said.

In 2010, the business was relaunched as the Treehouse Hotel, where it stands as a contemporary, tree-lined venue offering a “meaningful connection” to the lower north shore.

In 1939, a new hotel was erected on the site, to coincide with the naming of “Victoria Cross” in North Sydney.

Occupying 778.8m², the pub offers stylish interiors characterised by natural materials, greenery and an urban-garden aesthetic. The layout provides a series of versatile trading environments, including main bar, restaurant, alfresco terrace and private spaces suited to corporate groups and function-based activity.

“The Treehouse Hotel is one of the most prominent, recognisable, and consistently successful venues operating in the North Sydney CBD,” Mr Cullen said.

“Its proven trading history, and irreplaceable position perched above Victoria Cross Intersection, next to the Metro and Rail, create a compelling opportunity for operators seeking a blue-chip metropolitan asset.

“With significant commercial development still underway in the precinct, the Treehouse is exceptionally well placed to capture future growth.”

The hotel later adopted the name “Victoria Cross” and traded under that name until it was demolished in 1983.

MQ & Associates Director, Leonard Bongiovanni, added: “It is rare to see an opportunity that combines this level of historical provenance, brand strength and strategic location. The Treehouse is a destination venue that has consistently performed while maintaining a unique identity in one of Sydney’s most competitive hospitality markets. This will appeal to experienced operators seeking scale, footprint and long-term upside.”

The Treehouse Hotel is offered for sale via Expression of Interest, closing 4:00pm Friday, 12 December 2025.
