Mosman and North Sydney’s young residents are spoiled for choice this April.

Young residents are being offered a huge range of local activities this April, including a FREE barista course.

From free barista training to a sit-down with the Mayor, Mosman and North Sydney’s young residents have a packed Youth Week program to choose from this April.

Mosman Council is providing activities for young children and teens during the month.
Free barista course – Mosman
The Specialty Coffee Association of Australia is bringing its Beginners Barista Course to the Mosman Youth Centre, 30 The Crescent, on Friday, April 17, from 1pm to 4pm – and it won’t cost a cent.
Open to high schoolers and Year 6 students, the Barista Skills Foundation course covers the fundamentals: setting a grinder, pulling espresso, and texturing milk for cappuccinos and latte art – with health, safety and customer service practice built in.

From sewing circles to free bike tune ups, local kids can take advantage of FREE events thanks to Mosman and North Sydney Councils.

Youth Voices – meet the Mayor
On Wednesday, April 22, Mosman Mayor Ann Marie Kimber will sit down with young people from Mosman and surrounding suburbs for a relaxed, 90-minute conversation covering cost of living, mental health and more – running 7pm to 8.30pm, with food provided.

Flip Fashion Forever – Waverton
On Friday April 17, the Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability in Waverton hosts the Flip Fashion Forever Holiday Workshop from 10am to 3pm; a free, hands-on sewing and upcycling session for 9 – 18 year-olds.
Participants choose a thrifted garment or bring one from home, then rework it however they like … cropping, reshaping, hand sewing, embellishing, or transforming it into something entirely new. No sewing experience needed. Sewing machines, hand-stitching and surface design techniques are all on offer, guided by eco and ethically minded young fashion creatives.
Capacity is capped at 20 participants. Tickets are free but must be booked in advance. If plans change, cancel via the link in your confirmation email so someone on the waitlist can attend. All materials provided.
The Coal Loader is a seven-minute walk downhill from Waverton station, with street parking nearby. Bring a water bottle, morning tea and lunch.
Youth-led sewing circle – Waverton
The Coal Loader returns on Saturday April 18, for a relaxed, drop-in youth-led sewing circle from 10am to 2pm … open to all ages, no experience required.
Participants can upcycle a garment from the Coal Loader Clothes Swap running at the same time or bring along any textile project they’re working on. Young guides will be on hand to offer support and encouragement. All materials provided, entry is free.
Free bike tune-up – North Sydney
Also on Saturday, April 18, Pedal Set Go will be offering free bicycle safety checks at Ted Mack Civic Park, 220 Miller Street, North Sydney, from 8am to 11.45am.
A skilled mechanic will run a 10 to 15-minute tune-up covering brakes and more, on a first-come, first-served basis. Register your name at
the stall on the day – one bike per person, no bookings required.
The service returns on May 2 and June 20.

On April 18, Pedal Set Go will be offering free bicycle safety checks at Ted Mack Civic Park.
New library cards – Mosman
Mosman Library Service has launched a redesigned card collection. Under-18s who sign up receive the new children’s card featuring a humpback whale illustrated by children’s author Sami Bayly, while adults get a Balmoral Beach design. Existing members can swap their old cards at any time.
