Mosman Lawn Tennis Club is making history this season, fielding its first-ever Division 1 Men’s team in the Sydney Badge Tennis Competition – anchored by a squad of former world-ranked professionals.
The club has competed in the competition since its inception, rising through Divisions 4, 3 and 2 over recent years to reach the top tier for the first time in its 120-plus-year history.

The historic club has been a cornerstone of the Mosman community for more than 100 years.
The Division 1 line-up features Blake Mott, a former world No. 220 returning to competition after time on the professional tour, alongside James O’Brien, the current world No. 2 ranked Over 35s singles player.
Also in the squad are Michael Tebbutt, a former top 100 ATP player; Joe Wooley, ranked No. 1 in the UK at both Under 16 and Under 18 level and a Division 1 college representative in the United States; Lloyd Greatorex-Watson, a former top 30 UK junior who represented Scotland for many years; and Steven Blythe, who represented the UK for more than three years and holds his school’s record for most doubles wins.
“This achievement reflects the club’s continued growth and ambition to grow junior tennis,” said resident coach Stuart Thompson, owner of Grand Slam Tennis and Team Manager of the side.

After rising through lower ranks in recent years, the club has now fielded its first-ever Division 1 team in the Sydney Badge Comp.

MLTC President Rob Reynolds praised both the squad and Thompson’s role in building it.
“It’s fantastic to see the club attract such high-calibre players to represent MLTC,” Reynolds told Mosman Collective. “I’d particularly like to thank Stuart Thompson, our resident coach at Grand Slam Tennis, for his work over the past few years in developing our junior players and helping to build this Division 1 team. We wish the team and all our teams every success for the 2026 Badge season.”
The 2026 season marks a broader milestone for the club, with three women’s teams and seven men’s teams competing – 10 squads in total.
The rise follows significant facility investment: four grass courts were replaced with synthetic courts and lighting was installed in 2022/2023, enabling year-round participation.

he first home match will take place against Manly at 3.00 pm on Saturday 9 May, with Mayor Ann Marie Kimber in attendance.
