Teen charged with attempted murder following alleged theft of car in Mosman on November 14.

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder in Woolloomooloo following alleged car theft in Mosman.

A 14-year-old boy is facing court charged with attempted murder following an alleged road rage incident involving a stolen car from Mosman.

Just before 9am on Saturday 18 November 2023, the teen was allegedly involved in an altercation at a home on Dowling Street, Woolloomooloo.

Officers attached to Kings Cross PAC located the Mosman vehicle in Windeyer St, Woolloomooloo four days after it was allegedly stolen.

Upon leaving the property, the youth entered the driver’s seat of a vehicle parked on the street, where he allegedly accelerated at two people before driving off.

Officers attached to Kings Cross Police Area Command responded and located the vehicle, which is alleged to have been stolen from an address in Mosman on November 14.

In a separate incident two weeks later, it’s alleged the same teenager was driving a stolen Kia with another boy, 13, and two girls, 12 and 13, as passengers, when he crashed into a Honda just before 1am on Sunday, December 3.

The cars collided on Southern Cross Drive, Mascot, and officers from the NSW Police rescue and bomb disposal squad and Fire and Rescue NSW freed the passengers who were trapped.

In a separate incident, it’s alleged the same teenager was driving a stolen Kia with another boy, 13, and two girls, 12 and 13, when they crashed on December 3.

It’s alleged the 14-year-old driver ran away from the crash, while the other boy was taken to Sydney Children’s Hospital at Randwick in a serious condition. The others were taken to the same hospital for observation.

The 19-year-old driver of the Honda was uninjured.

After extensive inquiries into both incidents, the 14-year-old boy was arrested in Woolloomooloo on Monday 4 December.

He was taken to Kings Cross Police Station where he was charged with the following offences:

  • Attempt to murder (two counts)
  • Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous,
  • Negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm)
  • Not give particulars to other driver
  • Take & drive conveyance w/o consent of owner
  • Intentionally choke etc person without consent
  • Steal motor vehicle.

The Mosman car, believed to be a Mercedes, was allegedly stolen on Bay St last month.

For his alleged role in the Mascot crash, the teen was charged with failing to stop and assist after a crash causing grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm, cause bodily harm by misconduct and not wearing a seatbelt.

The youth was refused bail to appear before a children’s court on Tuesday 5 December 2023.

The two female passengers were both charged with being carried in a stolen vehicle. The older girl was refused bail and will appear in a children’s court on Tuesday, while the younger girl was granted conditional bail and will face a children’s court on Monday, January 22.
