Mexican food chain Guzman y Gomez will open in the second half of the year and employ 50 staff in the heart of Mosman Junction.

The store, at 890 Military Rd, has been approved to trade from 6am to 10pm, seven days a week.

The popular fast food chain will open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, seven days a week.

Originally planned as a 24-hour restaurant, the fast-food chain was met with strong opposition from concerned locals, forcing GYG to amend its application and address community feedback.

Plans submitted to Council show the split-level premises will have a single storey frontage, with the lower rear level to accommodate a loading bay, storage, staff amenities and a freight elevator.

The main floor will provide a shop front/dining area of 220 sqm, with staff preparing and serving meals for take away customers.

The new store will be located at the old St George branch – 890 Military Rd.

Inside will be seating for 18 people, and a liquor licence.

“There’s nothing team GYG love doing more than opening new restaurants. GYG Mosman is set to open later in 2024,” a spokesperson told Mosman Collective.

“The new GYG in Mosman will be open for Brekkie, Lunch and Dinner, giving the local community more convenience of getting GYG’s 100% clean and freshly prepared menu.”

Last year, GYG served 39 million burritos and bowls to hungry customers.

“We’re excited to show the local community that it’s possible to serve good food, fast, without compromising on quality or nutrition.”
