Thousands of people are expected on Mosman streets this Saturday for Halloween 2026.

Mosman’s best Halloween streets will have NSW State Emergency Service volunteers on patrol this Saturday, when thousands of trick-or-treaters head to local front yards.

Council will close Holt Avenue between Spofforth St and Bardwell Lane from 2:45pm to 7:15pm, with access kept to residents and emergency vehicles.

It is the second year the stretch of road has been closed as a safety and security measure.

Vampires, pirates, super-heroes and movie stars from across Sydney are expected to flood Mosman streets on October 31, recognised as having some of the best decorated homes and top-tier lollies in Sydney.

“Halloween is always popular on the lower north shore, and it could be even busier this year because the day falls on a Saturday,” one Spencer Rd resident told Mosman Collective.

“To be honest I am dreading the crowds, but it’s become something we do every year and nobody wants to let the little kids down.

“It has turned into a very expensive exercise, and the cost of lollies alone is about $300 per house.”

Lost a little monster?

Mosman’s SES truck will be at Memory Park on Saturday as a safe meeting point for any child who loses their family in the crowd.

“Our SES truck will be parked at Memory Park, serving as a meeting point where lost children can wait safely while we help reunite them with their parents or carers,” the Mosman unit posted.

The volunteers say they will be “keeping an eye out for our little witches, ghosts, monsters and superheroes”.

“Stay safe, look out for one another, and have a frightfully good night!” the unit said.

Do’s and don’ts on Mosman’s Halloween streets

  • DO bring a jumbo bag of lollies for the hosts, who go to a massive effort every year.
  • DO send a supervising adult with the kids, rather than groups of free-range youngsters moving about en masse.
  • DO remember your manners, because a “please” and “thank you” goes a long way in someone else’s front yard.
  • DO look out for the littlies if you are one of the older trick-or-treaters.
  • DON’T hang wispy fake spiderweb, which can trap local birds or end up in their nests.
  • DON’T throw eggs, because everyone has CCTV cameras – and police will be called!
  • DON’T drink and drive, after a driver crashed into a traffic light at Military Road and Spofforth Street on the Halloween weekend a few years ago, returning a reading of 0.153.
