A new shared pedestrian and vehicle zone is in place in Hamlet Lane, Mosman.

The speed limit is now 10km/h for all motorists travelling along Hamlet Lane, between Shadforth and Raglan streets.

The lane is one-way (southbound) for vehicles, but cyclists are permitted to travel in both directions.

The shared zone is now one-way for south bound vehicles.

Drivers must always give way to pedestrians and are permitted to park in marked bays only.

The changes follow community consultation on pedestrian safety upgrades in Hamlet Lane.

Green Space

Street tree planting is taking place along Military Road to enhance Mosman’s urban tree canopy and green cover.

The work is in conjunction with the NSW Government’s Greening Our City program.

Tree planting along the western end of Military Road was recommended from Council’s Street Trees Priority Strategy, a report funded through a Greener Neighbourhoods program.

The strategy indicates this location has elevated levels of urban heat and would benefit from well planned, best practice tree planting.

New trees are being planted on Military Rd to enhance the local tree canopy.

Solar Savings

The uptake of solar in Mosman continues to grow, with Council and partner organisations working to offer free advice to residents and businesses exploring options for installation, system costs and potential long-term savings.

As the 15 per cent of homes with photovoltaic (PV) systems continues to grow, the number of commercial installations is at 283, up from 259 in late 2023 and 10 in 2017.

Council is working with the not-for-profit SunSPOT to make understanding the process easier.

A SunSPOT solar and battery calculator estimates system size, cost and how much can be saved after users input simple information about their electricity use.
