A new pub with room for 500 drinkers, a gaming room and a 5am opening time is planned for the corner opposite Crows Nest Metro.
The $3 million proposal for 7-11 Clarke St has been submitted to North Sydney Council by TH Investments (Crows Nest) Pty Ltd and will be called the Royal Crow Hotel if approved.

A Statement of Environmental Effects uploaded with the project’s Development Application said the hotel will contribute to the suburb’s late-night economy, providing new space for the community to gather and socialise.
“It is well placed to serve the expanding population of the area as a result of new transit oriented development reforms that are encouraging mixed-use, high-density development on the western side of Crows Nest Metro Station,” the statement said.
Documents confirm the existing building, constructed in 1962, will be upgraded rather than demolished.

The $3 million pub proposal 526.69 square metres of licensed floor space.
The new pub would have 526.69 square metres of licensed floor space, with a downstairs sports bar and gaming room for 250 patrons.
Upstairs, a bistro and kitchen will cater for 250 more. Operating hours will be 5am – Midnight, seven days a week.
If approved, the pub will join 12 licensed venues trading past 10pm within the Crows Nest Town Centre.
Thomas Hotels currently operates 23 hotels, including The Republic in Sydney’s CBD, the Penshurst Hotel, Molly Malone’s in Surry Hills and the Coach and Horses in Randwick.

A social impact assessment prepared for the application argues the pub would provide a “net positive social impact”, and a “third place” as the suburb grows over the next decade.
“It is anticipated that there will be an increase in demand for hospitality venues that are able to cater to the future population of residents and workers in the local community,” the assessment says.
“The character of a third space is determined most by regular clientele, where there is opportunity for ongoing familiar connections within the community. Particularly within the context of high-density development such as Crows Nest, where residents and workers might have limited space to interact and form relationships within a private setting, third spaces play a critical role in the social vitality of the city.”
The application is with North Sydney Council. Locals can read it and lodge a submission through the Application Tracker on the official website.
