The first images of the new North Sydney Ambulance Station have been released, giving locals a glimpse of the modern facility set to replace the much-loved North Sydney PCYC – a move that has split the community and sparked ongoing concern about the loss of vital youth services.
Artist impressions reveal a purpose-built, state-of-the-art station planned for 224–230 Falcon St, one of three new ambulance sites announced this week as part of the NSW Government’s $615.5 million NSW Ambulance Infrastructure Program.

North Sydney PCYC has operated since the 1930s. It will leave the Falcon St site in December this year.
New stations at Oran Park and South Windsor are also progressing under the same roll-out.
The ambitious infrastructure plan will see 30 additional ambulance stations delivered across NSW, supporting the recruitment of 2,500 new NSW Ambulance staff, including 500 paramedics in rural and regional areas.
According to NSW Health, the new North Sydney station is designed to “significantly enhance emergency care capacity” and support paramedics with modern, purpose-built facilities.

Many local families have warned that losing the PCYC will remove a critical safe space for young people.

The station will include:
- Internal parking for ambulance vehicles
- A dedicated vehicle wash bay
- Multipurpose spaces for paramedics
- A gym
- Meeting and training rooms
- Administrative areas
- Logistics and storage facilities
- On-site parking
With direct access to major road networks, the facility has been positioned to complement existing ambulance stations and improve response times for Lower North Shore residents.
Construction is expected to begin in 2026, following planning approval and the appointment of building contractors.

After 70 years in the same location, North Sydney PCYC has an active membership of 1500, half of them local kids.
While the Minns Government is celebrating its investment in frontline emergency care, the future of local youth services remains a sticking point.
As reported by Mosman Collective earlier this year, the North Sydney PCYC – which has operated from the Falcon St site since the 1930s – will close to make way for the new ambulance station.
The centre was granted an extension allowing it to continue operating until December, but long-term uncertainty has fuelled community frustration.
Local families, long-time members and youth advocates have warned that losing the PCYC will remove a critical safe space for young people in one of Sydney’s most densely populated urban areas.

North Sydney’s PCYC has been sold to the NSW Government and will become an Ambulance station.
Premier Chris Minns said the new station would give paramedics “the modern facilities they need to care for our communities,” adding that the investment aims to improve response times and ensure residents get emergency care “when they need it.”
Drop-in sessions announced
Locals can learn more about the proposal at two upcoming community information sessions:
- Thursday, 4 December, 4:00pm – 6:00pm Outside Victoria Cross Metro Station, Miller Street
- Saturday, 6 December, 8:00am – 12:00pm Northside Produce Market, Ted Mack Civic Place
The planning application for the North Sydney Ambulance Station is expected to go on public exhibition in early 2026.
