14-year-old boy arrested after wild Mosman police chase. Road spikes deployed.

Police have arrested a 14-year-old boy after a wild police pursuit on Spit Rd, Mosman.

A 14-year-old boy and a 20-year-old man have been arrested after a dramatic chase that led police to use road spikes on a stolen car being driven in Mosman overnight.

About 2:20am, a late model Jeep was allegedly stolen from a home in Adrian Place, Balgowlah Heights, during a break and enter while the occupants were sleeping.

Around 2:20am, a late model Jeep was allegedly stolen from a Balgowlah Heights home.

A short time later officers sighted the vehicle travelling north along Belgrave Street, Manly, where they attempted to stop the vehicle.

When the car failed to pull over, a pursuit was initiated.

Pearl Bay Ave resident and eye witness Jake Hazell said he and his family were woken up by lights and sirens from at least four police cars shortly before 3am.

“We could hear the sirens around Spit Reserve and then there was a loud bang, tyre screeches and we heard the impact of the car crash, which must have been caused by the road spikes,” Mr Hazell told Mosman Collective.

“The cops found of the people involved hiding in the bushes right near our house.”

Police say they believe there were three occupants in the stolen vehicle.

Police said the road spikes were deployed on Spit Rd, causing the car to lose control and smash into a traffic light.

“The 20-year-old man was arrested after fleeing with two other people on foot,” police said.

“The 14-year-old boy was taken into custody in a nearby street.”

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested and is helping police with their enquiries.

It is believed there were three occupants in the stolen vehicle.

The teen has been taken to Manly Police Station and is assisting with inquiries.

There are no reports of any injuries.

Investigations are continuing.
