We’ve sifted through mountains of Council info received this week, to bring you important things of note in Mosman and North Sydney LGAs.
This is designed to be a quick and easily digestible, with bite-sized snippets for time poor residents (that’s most of us!)
Mosman Local Government Area
Maintenance works are set to commence in May at Balmoral Baths and Jetty.
The project will include replacement of deteriorated timber piles and decking and the replacement of a broken stainless-steel ladder.
The project is scheduled during the cooler, quieter months to minimise disruption to Balmoral Baths and Jetty users and the public.

A new 3km walking track between Middle Head and Georges Head is finally open for locals to enjoy.
A new 3km walking track, linking Middle Head and Georges Head, is now open.
The trail immerses visitors in over 220 years of Sydney’s defence history with a collection of restored defence structures, dating from 1801 to the Vietnam War, and installations, including signage and digital animations, bringing to life the site’s rich past.
This $9.5 million project, implemented over six years, delivers the missing link between the headlands, and connects to Chowder Bay and the Bondi to Manly Walk, creating a seamless walking experience for visitors.

A community forum on the new housing reforms will be held at Allan Border Oval Pavilion on April 9.
Council will host a Community Forum on Wednesday 9 April for residents to learn more about the NSW Government’s Low and Mid-Rise Housing Policy.
This session will help attendees understand more about the changes and what it means for Mosman.
The Community Information Session will be held from 7pm-8.30pm in the Allan Border Oval Pavilion.
Questions should be submitted in advance, noting that Council staff are not in a position to answer any site-specific questions.

Parking permits in North Sydney LGA expire on march 30.

All current resident parking permits expire on 31 March. Renew your permit and pay online now.
All current holders should have received a letter from Council with instructions about renewing online.
You need to have received your letter before you renew, as it will have your resident parking renewal account number, which you will need to finish the process online.
Please note your permit is digital and will update overnight.
If you have a Shared Permit, you will receive a physical permit by post to your residential address.
If you have not received your renewal or your permit within 2 weeks, please call Customer Service.

This laneway between 39 and 41 McLaren St is set to be renamed.
Council is considering an Aboriginal name for the lane between 39-41 McLaren St, North Sydney.
The name “Faith Bandler Place” was approved in 2022, but it did not meet the Geographical Names Board guidelines.
Now, a new word ‘Gamarada’ – which means friend or comrade – has been approved by the Aboriginal Heritage Office [AHO] and pre-approved by the GNB.
Council will shortly receive public submissions on the name “Gamarada Place”.

Transport for NSW has proposed a 12 month trial for Lime Bike parking in North Sydney LGA.
Transport for NSW has approached North Sydney Council to implement a 12 month trial of dedicated parking for Lime Bikes.
The trial includes geofencing around specific locations and line marking to visually identify locations.
North Sydney Council is proposing approximately 50 locations across Crows Nest / St Leonards, North Sydney CBD, and Milsons Point. The trial 50 locations are proposed on footpaths where there is adequate space for pedestrians, or in No Stopping areas.
