Exclusive: City Cave Mosman massage therapists charged with sexual offences.

Two male massage therapists have been charged with a string of sexual offences following police investigations into several alleged incidents at City Cave wellness centre in Mosman.

One of the men, a 50-year-old from Killara, is currently on bail and facing charges of sexual intercourse without consent and four counts of sexually touch another person without consent in July.

The other man, a 45-year-old from Surry Hills, was charged with sexually touching a female client last weekend. He was also employed as a masseuse at the Avenue Rd business.

In a statement released to Mosman Collective, City Cave confirmed it is aware of the alleged incidents and that both men were employed as contractors.

NSW Police commenced their investigation on Saturday, July 16, following reports a 28-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted during a massage at City Cave.

The following day (Sunday, July 17), police received a further report from another woman of a separate incident alleged to have occurred at the same business. 

After those inquiries, detectives arrested and charged a 50-year-old man on Tuesday, July 19.

He appeared before Hornsby Local Court on July 20 and was granted conditional bail to reappear at the same court next month.

“The incident of July 17 saw a complaint raised by a customer regarding a massage therapist,” the City Cave statement said.

The spokesperson said the alleged offences occurred on the man’s second day at work.

“City Cave management was immediately alerted as soon as the said complaint was raised and acted swiftly in terminating the massage therapist from any future shifts.”

On Tuesday this week (August 16), a second man was arrested and charged by police after a separate alleged incident at the local wellness retreat.

“About 10.30 am on Sunday August 7 2022, a 40-year-old woman was receiving a massage at a business on Avenue Road, Mosman,” a Police spokesperson told Mosman Collective.

“It will be alleged during the massage, the masseuse sexually touched the woman a number of times.

“The woman left the premises and reported the matter to the police.

“Following inquiries, about 7 am on Tuesday, August 9 2022; a 45-year-old man was arrested at a home on Cooper Street, Surry Hills.

“He was taken to Surry Hills Police Station, where he was charged with three counts of sexually touch another person without consent.”

Both therapists are currently prohibited from working as massage therapists until an outcome has been reached.

“City Cave takes the above two incidents, alongside all incidents, complaints and feedback raised, very seriously. Our aim is to build healthier communities through services that support the mental and physical well-being of our clients,” the company spokesperson said.

“When staff or contractor conduct is not in-line with this approach, vigorous action is taken by Management and is overseen with the highest priority.”

City Cave says it takes any accusations or incidents extremely seriously and will work fully with local enforcement for their due process.

“We deeply regret that the individuals involved in these two matters have had anything short of the positive experience that we set out to
provide, and we appreciate them raising these matters and bringing them to our attention,” the spokesperson said.
