One of the lower north shore’s best known Italian restaurants has announced its shock closure – less than a year after the owners sold the family business to friends.
Ezzelinos has served classic Italian dishes in Neutral Bay since 1982, but closed abruptly two weeks ago, confirming with Mosman Collective the doors are shut for good.

“With heavy hearts, we have made the difficult decision to permanently close Ezzelinos Italian Restaurant and will not be reopening after the New Year break,” the owners said in an emotional post.
“This was not an easy choice, but unfortunately the business was no longer viable.”

The Military Rd eatery was famous for its Italian pizza.

Locals have flocked to Ezzelino’s in Neutral Bay for the past 40 years.

The news has sparked an outpouring of sadness from loyal customers with one writing: “So incredibly sad to hear Neutral Bay has lost an absolute Gem of a spot! Thank you for all the incredible Italian food.”
“Such sad, sad, sad news! Have loved Ezzelino’s for the last 13 years,” another shares.

The restaurant enjoyed three store frontage changes over its history.
A Neutral Bay resident added: “Oh no, so sad to hear this. My partner and I were about to book dinner with you after having a wonderful evening there just a few weeks ago. We wish you all the best and hope we get to see you both again.”
The Ezzelino’s story began 40 years ago as a family run business built on hard work and a passion for Italian food. Since then, three generations have helmed the popular restaurant, which served lunch and dinner seven days a week.

“We are now entering a new chapter, focusing on our growing family and spending precious time with our little ones,” owners Christian and Christine said.
They concluded their message with a final thanks: “Thank you again for all the memories and support. We wish you all nothing but positivity and happiness.”
