Sunset Series – a free community event – returns to North Sydney this Autumn.

Outdoor live music returns to North Sydney this Autumn, with free weekend concerts featuring some of Sydney’s best artists.
Locals will enjoy a mix of classical, swing, jazz, funk over three Sundays, alongside kids’ workshops, food trucks and sports demonstrations, making it a perfect afternoon of family fun.

The North Sydney Symphony Orchestra kicks things off on Sunday 16 March.
Sunday 16 March will see the 50-piece North Sydney Symphony Orchestra take the stage, performing a wide range of music from classical masterpieces to lively swing arrangements. Support act Billie McCarthy (jazz and folk singer) is booked before the main show, which takes place from 2pm-6pm.
Sunday 13 April is the date to settle in for an indie-themed afternoon headlined by GODTET, a renowned instrumental group blending jazz, psychedelia, and improvisation. Support act BlauHaus will deliver an electrifying solo set of live-looped acid jazz and funk.
Mother’s Day 2025 (Sunday 11 May) will see headliner Thando, a powerhouse vocalist blending modern soul, R&B, and funk, with support act Natalie Slade also on hand to enchant audiences with her internationally acclaimed soulful sound.

“Sunset Series stands out for its unique combination of high-quality live music, interactive children’s activities, and a relaxed outdoor setting,” A North Sydney Council spokesperson said.
“The return of the North Sydney Symphony Orchestra is a particular highlight, promising a dynamic performance that goes beyond classical music.”
Mayor Zoë Baker said Sunset Series highlights the value of North Sydney’s public spaces as vibrant, inclusive places where the community can come together through culture and creativity.

The free event takes place over three Sundays at St Leonards Park, North Sydney.
“Events like Sunset Series reinforce the importance of accessible open spaces and the role of live music in fostering social connection,” she said.
“This series not only showcases talented artists but also creates welcoming, family-friendly environments where people of all backgrounds can engage with the arts and with each other.
“We’re proud to offer free cultural events that make North Sydney an even more dynamic and connected place to live.”
