North Shore MP Felicity Wilson has been promoted to the NSW Liberal frontbench.

Felicity Wilson, Member for North Shore, has been appointed Shadow Minister for Women and Shadow Minister for Aboriginal Affairs.

The outspoken MP – who is also expected to use a Liberal Party conscience vote to support a Greens private members bill to increase access to abortion health care – will take on the women’s and Aboriginal affairs portfolios.

Ms Wilson has served the local community since 2017.

NSW Opposition Leader Mark Speakman announced re-shuffle following the retirement of former Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams.

He said Ms Wilson has served her community passionately since 2017 and is a strong advocate for opportunity, equity and inclusion.

“As a mum raising her kids on the North Shore, and with a professional background in public policy, she gets what matters to local families — and how to deliver,” he said.

“She has been a Parliamentary Secretary and served on multiple committees with energy and conviction. She’ll bring that same enthusiasm to her new roles.”

Ms Wilson is now the Shadow Minister for Women and Shadow Minister for Aboriginal Affairs.

In her first speech to the Parliament eight years ago, the Shadow Minister said that she would always be “a champion for women” and spoke of Australia’s “still unresolved proper relationship with the first peoples of this land.”

“I have lived that commitment every day since my election, and these new roles provide an expanded opportunity for me to address these challenges,” Ms Wilson told Mosman Collective.

“I will continue to serve North Shore passionately and advocate for those within my community, and I am excited to have an opportunity to advocate for a more equitable future for all across our state, not just in my own backyard.”

“I’ll bring my values, my experience and my voice to these roles, and I’m honoured to serve,” Ms Wilson said.
