Popular book retailer Harry Hartog will open in Mosman next month.

Mosman Collective can reveal owners David and Robert Berkelouw have signed off on the brand’s 17th location at 886 Military Rd.

The prime site, with 507sqm of floor space, was previously home to Brunskills Pharmacy.

“The Mosman community can expect an independent bookstore that is tailored for the locals,” a Harry Hartog spokesman confirmed.

“From our store design, aesthetic and to the high quality, customer service from our Booksellers – we aim to create an atmosphere for all readers and community members to become inspired and engaged.”

Brothers David and Robert are sixth generation booksellers, who oversee Berkelouw Bookshops in Rose Bay, Paddington and Leichhardt and another in Noosa’s hinterland town of Eumundi, in addition to the growing Harry Hartog and Book Face brands.

Their philosophy is based on the importance of community building through their book stores.

“Our shops are for the adventurer, the student of life and the next generation of reader,” the Harry Hartog website says, “Old fashioned quality and creative ideas are the cornerstone of our community.”

In addition to a wide range of books, Harry Hartog will also offer a range of gifts, games, puzzles and stationery.

Mosman Collective understands a special “Vintage Room” is set for the Mosman store, with comfy chairs, wood panelling and antique tables.
“Our extensive range of new and used books alongside our selection of games, homewares and gifts is curated to satisfy the most discerning customer,” the spokesperson said.

Harry Hartog will join Mosman’s existing specialty bookshop, Three Sparrows, a independently owned store, which is located at 836 Military Rd (directly across the road from Westpac).
