‘Why waste a precious egg?’: Family shaken after teens pelt car – with toddlers on board.

A local man driving with two children in the car has been left shaken, after two teens allegedly “egged” his car on MacPherson St, Cremorne.

Two teenagers on e-bikes hurled a rotten egg at a family car in Cremorne this week – with a three-year-old and a one-year-old in the back seat – then vanished before anyone could follow.

The attack unfolded on Macpherson Street near Richmond Avenue at 5:45pm on Wednesday.

The alleged incident occured around 5:45pm on Wednesday and was captured on Dash Cam.

The shocked resident, who contacted Mosman Collective, was driving his two young children home from daycare when the egg connected with his windscreen at speed.

Dashcam images captured the pair moments before impact. The photos, published here, show two youths on what appear to be e-bikes … and within seconds of throwing, they were gone.

“It felt like the kind of quick-getaway behaviour that could easily become a new frontier for this sort of delinquent act,” the resident told Mosman Collective.

The man said his three-year-old daughter was distraught after the attack.

E-bikes offer perpetrators something conventional pushbike riders never had; instant, near-effortless escape. The resident is worried others will catch on.

“I kept wondering how many more road-based victims they would find,” he said, “and whether it could escalate to property damage or other vandalism.”

His three-year-old daughter was distraught after the attack. In what her father describes as “a real loss-of-innocence moment,” she kept asking why anyone would “waste a precious egg.”

The family tried to keep the mood light. His wife joked afterwards that the boys probably hadn’t even used free-range eggs.

The teens were last seen on MacPherson St, and wearing dark clothing. One of the boys was in a “Stussy” t-shirt.

The resident reported the attack to Mosman Police. The response, by his account, was less than reassuring – officers mentioned a possible patrol of the area but asked no follow-up questions, despite dashcam images clearly showing the perpetrators.

“Once they heard there was no physical damage, the response felt pretty deprioritised,” he told Mosman Collective.

No one has been identified or charged.

The offenders are described as being aged “around 14”, wearing dark clothing. One of the boys was wearing a black “Stussy” t-shirt.
