The Modern Mosman Masterpiece recognised as one of Australia’s finest homes.
On one of Mosman’s prestige streets, nestled among the Federation facades and perfectly landscaped lawns, is an uncompromisingly modern masterpiece known simply as the “Bell Romero Houses”.
Designed by Sydney architects Chenchow Little, 29a Royalist Rd is recognised as one of Australia’s finest homes, after receiving two National Architecture Awards in 2012.
For Doctors Mona Razavian and her husband Christian Skulina, it was “love at first sight”.
“We didn’t ever intend to buy the home, but the moment we walked through the front door there was no going back,” Mona tells Mosman Collective.
“Eight years later and we still get excited when we come home from work, because the house is just a dream to live in.
“It’s a pity we’ve outgrown it.”
With two growing children, the young family are reluctantly selling their incredible designer residence with local agent David Murphy, who describes it as a “triumph of modern architecture.”
“This is the ultimate home for anyone who has a passion for cutting edge design and timeless quality,” he says, “it’s absolutely flawless.”
Made of steel and concrete, the Torrens Title property is perfectly insulated and almost sound-proof, Mr. Murphy says, “with Cathedral style ceilings, retractable glass doors and limestone flooring throughout.”
“Properties like this are few and far between in Mosman, which is why it’s such an attractive proposition for buyers.”
Describing their home as “geometric and poetic”, Mona and Christian say 29a Royalist Rd will appeal to busy executive couples and empty nesters who love design.
“We both travel extensively for work, so it was always important for us to have a private, practical and secure residence that we could lock-up-and-leave,” she says.
“It’s very understated from street level, blending in beautifully with the colours outside, but the real magic of our home is the way the architects have played with the light and the ventilation.
“The Bell Romero Houses are all about indoor-outdoor living, with efficient and useable floorplans making the property practical, but edgy in style.”
