This Cremorne Point harbourfront apartment is on the market for the first time in 60 years.

A lower north shore “bolt hole” used as a city escape for a well-known NSW farming family is on the market for the first time in its history.
Purchased off the plan for £11,750 in 1962, the immaculate two-bedroom apartment on Cremorne Point has never been tenanted and sits vacant for seven months of the year, despite boasting a world class location and grandstand views of Sydney Harbour.
Chris and Jan Carter told Mosman Collective five generations of their family have stayed “intermittently” at 5B/30 Milson Rd, with the open plan unit still as meticulous as it was when brand new.
“The flat looks as good as it did on the day my Grandfather turned the key on the front door,” Mr Carter said.
“He bought it as a place to enjoy in his twilight years and wanted to hand it down through the generations.
“We’ve been very lucky to have the apartment in our family for 61 years.”
Patriarch Percival Vincent (known as P.V) Carter fell in love with Cremorne Point when he left his 12,500-acre Gunnedah property, but he was no stranger to the lower north shore.
His father, Harry, a former Mayor of Mosman, was instrumental in the beautification of Balmoral Beach, and officially opened The Esplanade in August 1927.

“When PV died in 1972, the plan was to keep it in the family,” Chris told Mosman Collective this week, “looking back, he was a very astute man who knew it would be worth something one day.”
With Chris and Jan now retired in Tamworth and the next generation of Carters farming “Rangari”, the time has come to sell their beloved “piece of paradise”.
“The apartment has been so treasured and loved by our family, and it is a heart breaking decision to sell, but the time is right,” Jan said.
“It is part of our family heritage and we will miss Cremorne Point immensely.”
Listing agent David Murphy said the two-bedroom, open plan flat with mesmerising views over the harbour is a rare find.
“The property is immaculate and has been loved and looked after by one family for more than six decades,” he said.
“It is the lower north shore’s best original apartment, with a front row position on Sydney Harbour.
“You won’t find anything better on Cremorne Point.”
