End of an Era: Popular Mosman fashion and accessories retailer Savoir Faire to close after 30 years.
By ANNA USHER
The owner of a long-standing fashion accessories shop is ready to say goodbye to her customers after nearly 30 years of trading.
Savoir Faire, at 762-768 Military Rd, is set to close permanently in October.
The independently owned store with high class overseas brands and designs is owned by Robyn Flowers, who told Mosman Collective it was time to close this chapter and retire.
“After three decades of helping dress the women of Sydney, it’s time for me to stop and smell the roses,” she said, “I’ve turned 70 and want to enjoy a retirement filled with travel, painting and drawing.”
Mrs Flowers founded Savoir Faire in June 1996 thanks to her love of quality jewellery and soon expanded the range to include bespoke hats, handbags, shawls and scarves.
The stylish village store fast become renowned as a one-stop shop for seasonal race wear and wedding accessories, catering to women of all ages.
“Savoir Faire has always been a shop that caters to local girls needing some earrings for their school formal, or for a mother-of-the-bride who wants a statement shawl or clutch,” Mrs Flowers said.
“The reason we have stood the test of time is because our pieces are timeless and top quality.
“We also move with the seasons so our stock is always changing and there’s always something new to discover in store.”
Before closing her doors for good, Mrs Flowers is having a huge farewell sale, with all stock between 50% and 70% off.
“I guess it’s a way for me to say thank you to the loyal customers who have supported me for all these years,” she said.
Much of Savoir Faire’s jewellery range is down to $50 – or three pieces for $120, with racing hats marked down by “hundreds of dollars”.
“I have English and French racewear that’s been hugely discounted,” Mrs Flowers said, “and we’re selling our Fascinators at bargain prices.”

She suggested budget-savvy locals could start Christmas shopping early and take advantage of the closing down sale.
“You can buy something for $5 or $500 at our farewell sale,” Mrs Flowers said.
“Accessorising with style is what the shop is famous for, and I hope everyone pops in to grab something lovely before I close the doors for good in October.
“We have everything from beach hats, to cashmere, to bracelets and even furs.
“I will miss the ladies of the lower north shore, and I would like to say a sincere ‘thank you’ to everyone who has supported my business over the years.
“Closing Savoir Faire is the end of an era.”
