A 50-year-old man has been refused bail after he was charged over the alleged sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl in North Sydney this week.

DiDi rideshare driver, Mongolian national Amarbayasgalan Yondonlodoi, allegedly stopped the vehicle, then climbed into the back seat of the vehicle.

Police will allege he then proceeded to sexually assault the teenager.

“About 7.30am on Tuesday, police were called to Carlow St, North Sydney, following reports a 17-year-old girl had allegedly been sexually assaulted while travelling in a rideshare vehicle in the North Sydney area,” NSW Police said in a statement.

Police allege the assault happened about 7.30am on Tuesday (2 June), when officers were called to Carlow Street, North Sydney.

“A crime scene was established by officers attached to North Shore Police Area Command, and an investigation commenced.”

Yondonlodoi kept driving for DiDi in the days that followed, continuing to pick up passengers.

On Wednesday, police swooped at 6:30pm, arresting him as he dropped off a customer at Sydney International Airport.

Watch: 50 year old man arrested at Sydney Airport:

He was taken to Surry Hills Police Station, where he was charged with entering, taking or detaining a person with intent to obtain advantage causing actual bodily harm, and aggravated sexual assault — deprivation of liberty.

Yondonlodoi was refused bail at Bail Division Court on Thursday and is due to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on July 30, where he will require a Mongolian interpreter.
