The local dining scene has welcomed a new addition, with Chinese fusion restaurant Shanghai Club opening on Military Rd.

Located on the first floor of Cremorne Plaza, the 100-seat venue owned by Hospo veteran Dah Lee launched quietly two weeks ago, bringing opulent luxury and authentic Asian flavours to those searching for a quality dining experience.

Cremorne’s Shanghai Club is the latest restaurant from seasoned veteran Dah Lee.

“Shanghai Club is our re-interpretation of the original ‘Paris of the East’,” Lee told Mosman Collective.

“Through the 1930s, Shanghai enjoyed the reputation of being a glamorous, eclectic social melting pot of British, Russian, and French traders and colonists along with local Chinese socialites: opium dens, hip bars, restaurants and clubs.

“Our vibe is one of warm, dimly lit comfort, happy music and fun people.”

Shanghai Club is located on the first floor of Cremorne Plaza.

Salt and Pepper Squid is a popular option.

With a menu of ‘small’ and ‘bigger’ plates, diners can expect a new twist on old favourites, Lee said.

“We are doing things differently with Wagyu Beef and Mozzarella Spring Rolls, Pork Belly San Choy Bao and Angus Tenderloin Skewers,” he said.

“But I am particularly proud of our incredible Wagyu Sirloin with XO Butter, an absolute triumph.

“It has received rave reviews.”

The restaurant is serving up a new twist on old favourites, Mr Lee said.

Lee opened his first restaurant in the 1980s and earned fame as a crucial player in Wildfire, New Zealand’s first Churrascaria, established in 1999.

He is also behind Sydney CBD venue Firegrill, a luxe steak and seafood grill in Barrack Place.

“I’ve had my heart set on opening a lower north shore venue for a while, and this space in Cremorne is perfect,” he said.

“The layout was exactly what I‘d been looking for – and the location is fantastic.

“There is a real buzz in Cremorne Plaza with a huge array of restaurants – it’s become a real foodie hub for couples and families looking for a quality meal in pleasant surrounds, with good parking and public transport.”

The new eatery is open Tuesday to Sunday for dinner.

Enjoy an Asian inspired cocktail.

Shanghai Club offers Asian-inspired cocktails, bespoke spirits, and Laurent Perrier as its house champagne.

A private dining room is also available for groups of eight up to 30+ people.

Shanghai Club is open Tuesday to Saturday from 5 pm.
