Anzac Day 2020: Lower North Shore Locals Asked to Light Up The Dawn on Driveways this Saturday.
On the battlefields of Pozieres in 1916, a mortally wounded soldier in the final moments of his life turned to journalist Charles Bean and asked, “Will they remember me in Australia?”
For over a century, in the streets of every village, town and city across the nation, we have gathered on ANZAC Day to answer this question in the most public of ways.
We will always remember them.
But this year, amid the Covid-19 pandemic, things are going to be very different.
In place of usual ceremonies and gatherings, Sydney’s lower north shore will embrace a special ‘Light Up the Dawn’ initiative in 2020, with a 6am Dawn Service vigil in neighbourhood driveways, lawns, living rooms and balconies.
As a trusted voice in the community, Mosman Collective believes we should stay connected more than ever before this Anzac Day, with a strong show of local support for those who have served and sacrificed.
And while social distancing might prevent us from being together in a physical sense, we’d love to share your family stories, memories and history on our Facebook page.
So, who will you be standing for on April 25th?
If you have a relative or ancestor who has served, or you are a veteran, please get in touch by emailing [email protected] (or just send a DM) with your photos and relevant details so we can share with our social media community.
