Mosman Art Gallery has appointed eminent artist, Fiona Lowry, as the expert entrusted with judging this year’s Mosman Art Prize.
Ms Lowry won the Archibald Prize in 2014 with her portrait of Penelope Seidler. Her artworks hang in galleries across the country, including the national Museum of Contemporary Art, the National Gallery of Australia, the National Portrait Gallery, Artbank and more.
Mosman Art Gallery director John Cheeseman said the gallery was “thrilled” with the selection of Ms Lowry.
“Fiona is an exceptional artist whose practice encompasses both traditional and contemporary aspects of the process of art-making. I am certain her keen eye will allow for a selection of works that will recognise excellence in established forms and push new boundaries in painting practice in Australia.”
Entries remain open for the 2023 Mosman Art Prize, with the deadline 4 August. The annual exhibition will take place 23 to 29 October.
