Locals have been left with their knickers in a knot after a clothes line full of garments was erected on Balmoral Beach.

The surprising addition was seen blowing in the morning breeze on Thursday, secured from an adjacent camper van and attached to a tree.

Underpants, tea towels and togs were seen strung up between the camper van and a tree.

While the traveller’s washing not only drew the ire of passerbys, Mosman Council told us it is prepared to hand out a fine to anyone caught creating a makeshift camp ground in the area.

“Council’s rangers attended Balmoral Beach on Thursday to investigate this incident, however, the responsible party had already left,” a Mosman council spokesperson said. “Council proactively undertakes patrols of the foreshore areas to check for illegal camping.”

For the record, camping on Balmoral Beach is illegal.

Mosman Council has warned illegal campers will be fined.

Scores of angry locals were left with their knickers in a knot.

The council warned it will not tolerate anyone feigning ignorance as there are many signs dotted around.
“Camping is not permitted at Balmoral Beach and there is signage in place to advise the public of this, and to restrict camping,” the spokesperson said. “There are penalties applicable for failing to comply with terms of signage erected by Council, including the fine of $110.”
