The lower north shore loves its dogs, and our four-legged friends are welcome at increasing numbers of local cafes and watering holes.

As valued community members, pooches are allowed to accompany owners in the outdoor areas of most venues, with water bowls (and even snacks!) provided.

Resident Marie Spencer says she will always choose a café or restaurant where her seven-year-old retriever Goldie is welcome, over one that doesn’t allow pets.

“Dogs are a huge part of the lower north shore, and there are so many more of them around since Covid,” she told Mosman Collective.

“They are part of the family and should be considered as such when people go out for a bit to eat.

“The vast majority of local dogs are well trained, the owners are responsible, and a lot of places have parks right next door so it’s convenient for everyone.”

See our list of dog friendly places so you can hang with your four-legged friends – and be social at the same time!
