Council releases concept plan to upgrade Village Green and Mosman Square. See the designs!

A nature playground, seating nooks and small decks are among proposed changes to Mosman Village Green, set for an upgrade in the coming months.

Concept designs show permeable paving, moveable furniture under a green undercroft, and an abundance of low-water-use native plants commonly found in the Sydney Basin.

Mosman Council is seeking community feedback on the draft plans, which aim to provide better accessibility and improved lighting for all age groups.

The current layout of Mosman Square and the Village Green was created in 1988.

Concept plans for a revamped Mosman Village Green.

“It was a bold design at the time and there have been various additions and deletions over the years,” the Council website says.

“The space is a popular location due to its proximity to shops, transport, dining facilities, Council srvices, parking, green spaces and local events like the markets.”

Located at the heart of Spit Junction, Mosman Square and Village Green features the 1901 foundation stone and other plaques within the wall of the landscaped area.

There are also three water features, including two fountains donated by local residents.

The Antico Fountain is an 18th century Italian marble fountain donated by Sir Tristan Antico and the 19th century cast iron O’Keefe Fountain was donated by the Hon. Mr Justice Barry O’Keefe AM QC.

Please view the design and fill out the survey, or send your submission to Mosman Council [email protected]

An online workshop is planned for Tuesday 28 September, and you can register your interest by contacting 9978 4116 or email [email protected]
