It’s time to retire that tired old joke about everyone in Mosman owning a Country Road bag – because this summer, it’s all about the towel.

The iconic Australian brand – practically part of our local uniform – is taking over Balmoral on Saturday, November 15, rolling out 100 of its classic beach towels for residents to claim, complete with prime waterfront positions and uninterrupted harbour views.

Dubbed the “Country Road Towel Takeover”, the event marks a stylish shift from sleepover totes to beachside stripes – proving that in Mosman, even sunbaking comes with branding.

The Great Balmoral Land Grab

New research by Country Road shows that finding a decent patch of sand has become an Aussie blood sport, with more than half of us (54%) hitting the beach by mid-morning to stake our claim.

One in ten say their biggest gripe is a blocked ocean view, while almost half (43%) can’t stand people shaking sandy towels nearby.

To bring some calm (and cohesion) to the chaos, the “Towel Takeover” will see Balmoral’s busiest stretch transformed into a cabana-free, towel-only zone – designed to bring back the simple joy of the classic Aussie beach day.

From Tote to Towel

It’s free to join in, but spots (and towels) are limited … and let’s be honest, they’re guaranteed to go faster than a Balmoral parking spot on a summers day.

Afterwards, locals can head up the hill to Country Road’s new Mosman store at 742 Military Road, to complete the look with matching resort wear, homewares – and yes, probably another bag.

Because if there’s one thing Mosman loves more than a Country Road tote, it’s an upgrade.
