Discover Your Roots
Exploring family ancestry helps uncover personal identity, connect generations, and preserve heritage. It can reveal cultural roots, medical history, and long-forgotten stories. Whether driven by curiosity or a desire to leave a legacy, genealogy research deepens our understanding of who we are and where we come from.
Mosman Library offers free access to two leading online genealogy websites, available during library open hours. These tools provide a great starting point for anyone interested in tracing their family history.
To support budding genealogists, Ruth Graham, CEO of the Society of Australian Genealogists (SAG), will present a free workshop at the library on Tuesday 5 August 2025, from 11am to 12.30pm.

Mattress Recycling
Council provides a free mattress recycling service for residents as part of its efforts to reduce landfill waste. Despite Australians discarding over 1.8 million mattresses annually, many materials in mattresses, such as foam, cotton, steel, and timber, can be recycled. To ensure your unwanted mattress is recycled, take advantage of the next household clean-up for Mosman residents through the month of August. Check your pick-up date and place the mattress beside your clean-up pile for easy collection. For more information on Mosman’s waste and recycling services, visit the WEBSITE.
