Local Fundraiser: Bidding is open for Neutral Bay Public School Online Auction!
By TAYLOR RYAN
Lower north shore residents are invited to bid for a swag of luxury goods and experiences, with all proceeds going to the local public school.
“There’s something for everyone – a kids karate party from Mosman Martial Arts Academy or a term of dance classes at Neutral Bay School of Dance for the kids,” NBPS P&C Vice President Elizabeth Barnett said.
“You can win spa treatments at Sanctuary Skin Care or a night out at the Hideout Bar with a $1000 bar tab for adults!
“Even pets are catered for with Cat or Dog hampers up for grabs.”
For students, there is also a unique opportunity to be ‘Principal for a Day’ or have a “Birthday message in Lights” on the school sign, Mrs Barnett told Mosman Collective.
The pandemic restrictions sparked the idea for the online auction, and after face-to-face activities were banned, the P&C had to pivot to meet the needs of the community.
“We had to find ways to maintain community involvement and lift spirits whilst also trying to meet our fundraising targets,” Mrs Barnett explained.
“Even though it was a tough time for shop-keepers, the local business community really came to the fore and donated some fantastic prizes during lockdown.”
Elizabeth has been a member of the P&C since her daughter started school at NBPS in 2020.
If they reach their fund-raising target this year, Mrs Barnett says the P&C will assist teachers and students with receiving “the educational experience they deserve.”
“The NBPS P&C online Auction aims to raise funds for resources including contributions to the schools arts and science programs, classroom resources like new or upgraded technology and playground equipment,” she said.
“You can imagine how many Smartboards and iPads are required for a school with over 800 students!”
To get involved in the Online Auction, visit the WEBSITE. Bidding will close at 9 pm on Friday, August 26.
If you’re a business owner who would like to get involved and help NBPS raise money, there is still time to donate a prize by emailing Elizabeth at [email protected].
