Mosman Council has announced the appointment of Craig Covich as its new General Manager.

With more than 20 years of experience in the local government sector, serving in senior leadership roles and across a variety of operations at Mosman, Mr Covich brings a strong skillset to manage the challenges and opportunities the sector and the local area will face into the future.

Mr Covich has been an integral part of the Mosman Council team for the past 20 years.

"He has a wealth of experience across a wide range of services including planning and development, environmental services, capital works projects and strategic financial management," a spokesperson for Mosman Council said.

Mr Covich was previously Mosman Council's Director Environment and Planning and had served as Acting General Manager since 2 July 2025 following the retirement of Dominic Johnson after nine years at the helm.

The appointment followed a competitive recruitment process. Mosman Mayor Ann Marie Kimber said Council was unanimous in endorsing its selection of the preferred candidate at a Council meeting on 2 September 2025.

"Mr Covich has been an integral part of the Mosman team here for the past 20 years, building our strong and sustainable financial position, positive relationship with our community and an organisational culture that has earned industry awards for staff engagement and change management," she said.

"He also has an exciting vision for Mosman based on excellent customer service and community engagement, and one that will lead the way forward in response to challenges, including Mosman's response to the State Government's planning reforms, and opportunities such as long-term plans for a new purpose-built library and community hub."

Mr Covich's skill set includes planning and development and environmental services.

Mr Covich said he was honoured to be Mosman's next General Manager and serve residents, businesses and the broader community.

"I'm looking forward to working collaboratively with the Mayor and Councillors and guiding our highly dedicated and professional staff to deliver a successful vision for Mosman," he said.

Mr Covich has commenced a five-year performance-based contract.
