A horrific collision between a truck and a car closed the Spit Bridge early this morning, causing significant traffic delays before emergency crews cut a motorist free from the wreckage.
The crash occurred just after 7.30 am, with emergency crews rushing to the scene to free the trapped driver, aged in his forties.

The 7:30am collision caused traffic chaos, with many forced to abandon buses as Emergency services worked to free the man.
Fire and Rescue NSW Superintendent Adam Dewberry said the driver looked to have escaped serious harm.
“It looks like there’s only minor injuries, but we do know that things can deteriorate quickly in these crashes,” he said.
Along the Burnt Bridge Creek Deviation in Seaforth, which leads to the Spit Bridge, commuters boldly decided to flee their cars and public transport. Many opted to return home on foot, some even jumping the fence of a nearby golf course to bypass the area.
