New bike path to connect Neutral Bay and Mosman. Here’s every street set to change.

North Sydney Council wants bike paths to make local streets “easier to move around without a private vehicle”.
By ANNA USHER
North Sydney Council has put forward plans for a 1.5km separated, two-way cycleway linking Neutral Bay to Mosman, running from Bent St to Rangers Ave along a “back road” corridor.
The major changes, designed to reduce cars on local roads, covers Yeo St, Wycombe Rd, Harrison St, Rangers Rd and Spofforth St, with the project now open for community feedback.

Under the proposal, two bus stops will be removed from Spofforth St to accommodate parking.
The Plan
Council wants to build a separated bike path, add safer crossings, and smooth walking links – while reshaping parking, traffic turns and bus stops in parts of the route.
What’s Changing?
A separated cycleway (with set widths in the plans)
Concept drawings show the bike path is typically 2.4m wide in multiple sections, with a 2.8m two-way path shown near Yeo St / Bydown St, and a 3.4m shared path connection to Neutral Bay Public School.
New one-way streets
Barry St to become one-way (shown as northbound) and Harrison St to become one-way (shown as eastbound)
Peak-hour right turns banned at Wycombe Rd + Yeo St
A separate traffic change sheet proposes right-turn restrictions at the Yeo St/Wycombe Rd intersection during peak times:
- 7-9am and 4-6pm, Monday to Friday
- Applies to eastbound Yeo St and southbound Wycombe Rd movements
- Buses excepted
Bus stops to go on Spofforth St
Council’s consultation panels state a pair of bus stops on Spofforth St would be removed to fit parking and a pedestrian/cyclist crossing.

Parking and trees
Council says 57 parking spaces will be relocated within the project area, with no net loss overall.
26 parking spaces to be added on Barry Street as part of the one-way redesign.
Council states five trees would be removed and 10 planted – a net gain of five.
