Ticketless parking fines in North Sydney have raised a staggering amount of revenue in the past twelve months according to latest data issued by the State Government.

Statistics released by Revenue NSW show 57,010 tickets were issued in the LGA between July 2024 and June 2025, raking in a total of $10,544,957.

This equates to one ticket every NINE minutes.

Ticketless fines were officially banned by the NSW Government on July 1.

The ticketless scheme was first introduced in 2020 and allowed North Sydney Council to send parking fines in the mail instead of attaching tickets to windscreens.

It led to an infringement explosion in the LGA.

Data obtained by Mosman Collective shows 31,968 fines were issued in 2021-22, with the number climbing steadily each year.

The number of ticketless fines issued by Rangers has risen steadily in the LGA over the past four years.

But from July 1 the unpopular system was officially banned by the State Government, with wardens now required to attach a notification to the window of the vehicle, and a screenshot sent to Revenue NSW, with the driver allowed to see the ticket if it is requested by the driver.

Parking fines also need to be sent out no later than seven days after the offence if a notification was not attached to the vehicle.

They must also send Revenue NSW photo proof of the offence and collate data about parking fines issued.

North Sydney Council Rangers now required to attach a notification to the window of the vehicle.

NSW Finance Minister Courtney Houssos said the changes were a win for commonsense.

“Today marks the end of the previous government’s unfair ticketless parking fine system,” she said.

“People shouldn’t be caught by a surprise parking ticket weeks after the fact. These commonsense changes bring fairness and transparency back to the system.”

NRMA spokesman Peter Khoury also welcomed the fact ticketless parking fines are finally banned.

“People deserve to know when and why they’re being fined – and to have a fair chance to challenge it if needed,” he said.
