Warringah Bowls Club kicks off a new chapter in community sports this Sunday, with the official launch of Pickleball on its historic top green.

The family friendly event promises a day of fun, with free coaching clinics, inflatable games for the kids, a sausage sizzle and plenty of prizes – including bar vouchers up for grabs.

The family friendly event kicks off at 10am on Sunday, with residents of all ages invited.

Club Manager Liarne Peek told Mosman Collective she hopes Pickleball will revitalise the venue and foster an active, inclusive lifestyle for locals.

“We want our Pickleball courts to breathe new life into the club,” she said, “it is the world’s fastest growing sport, and whether you are five or 75, you can now pop in and play a game right here on Bradleys Head Rd.”

The club will retain the lower green exclusively for lawn bowls, Ms Peek confirmed.

Kids are very welcome at Warringah Bowls Club, with FREE activities on this weekend.

  • 1pm to 3pm: Complimentary lessons for beginners
  • Also: Join the ‘friendly’ competition with food and bar vouchers to be won.
  • From 3pm: Live music from party band The New Hip, belting out everything from Miley Cyrus to Elton John

Kids won’t miss out either, with fairy floss, hot popcorn, inflatable “Foot Darts” and plenty to keep them busy between games.

“The weather on Sunday is looking spectacular, and we are looking forward to welcoming local residents to Warringah Bowling Club for a spectacular family day,” she said.

Free inflatable “Foot Darts” will keep the kids happy.

Earlier this month, the historic club entered administration, sparking fears the site some could be re-zoned and sold to developers.

Ms peek said she hopes the introduction of Pickleball will inspire locals to rally behind the venue.

“We want to see the community embrace the introduction of Pickleball to Warringah Bowls Club,” she said, “every little bit of support we receive from locals will help save the Club.”

How You Can Help

Warringah Bowling Club is more than a sporting club. It’s one of the last remaining communal venues in Mosman – publicly accessible, family (and dog) friendly, heritage-rich and deeply embedded in our local fabric.

Here’s how residents can help:

• Visit the Venue: Every coffee, drink and meal directly supports the club.
• Become a Member: Memberships are just $20/year.
• Use the Space: For kids birthday parties or social gatherings.
• Attend Events: Weekly Trivia, Mahjong, Line Dancing or Bridge.
• Book a Pickleball Court or Lesson
• Share this story: Encourage friends, neighbours and family to get involved.

Without your urgent support, Mosman risks losing not just a club – but part of our history.
