Popular Mosman boutique The Nowhere Nation to close ahead of Military Rd development.

Sisters Nikki and Mikala Holloway will close their popular Mosman boutique, The Nowhere Nation, in December.

After more than seven years as one of Mosman’s most popular independent fashion retailers, sister-run shoe boutique The Nowhere Nation will close its flagship Military Road store on 21 December 2025, following the planned demolition and redevelopment of the building in early 2026.

Co-founders Nikki and Mikala Holloway, who opened the boutique in 2018, say the demolition timeline – which has remained uncertain for many months – has made it increasingly difficult to plan for the future of the business.

The designer shoe store, located at 706 Military Rd, is set for redevelopment in 2026.

“We absolutely adore this space and the community we’ve built here,” says co-founder Nikki Holloway. “But with the building being sold for redevelopment, and no firm timing around demolition, we had to make the hard decision to step out before Christmas. It’s bittersweet, but we’re choosing to see it as the beginning of a new chapter for The Nowhere Nation.”

Since opening, The Nowhere Nation has become known for its bold, global curation of shoes and accessories, often stocking designers rarely seen in Australia – as well as its warm, personal approach to customer experience.

Although the physical store will close in December, The Nowhere Nation will continue to operate online.

To honour their time in Mosman, Nikki and Mikala will host one final in-store Christmas celebration on Thursday, 27 November from 5–8 pm. The evening will be part farewell celebration, part VIP shopping night, part Christmas market featuring a curated showcase from local Sydney accessory brands ZEIYA, Charming Street, and Sloka Jewellery.

In a true display of community spirit, neighbouring boutique Colleen Collective will also keep its doors open late, creating a lively “mini block party” atmosphere at 706 Military Road.

“It felt important to celebrate not just the store, but the incredible local community who have supported us from the beginning,” says Mikala. “This neighbourhood has truly been our second home, and hosting this event feels like the most meaningful way to close out this chapter.”

Nikki and Mikaela will host a Christmas party for local customers in-store on Thursday, 27 November from 5pm-8pm.

Although the physical store will close in December, The Nowhere Nation will continue to operate online into 2026 while the founders explore what the next version of the brand may look like. Their Free At Home Try-On service will remain available for Australian clients, ensuring the personal, boutique-style experience continues even without a physical storefront.

“We’re not disappearing,” Nikki reassures. “We are just closing the curtain on this era of The Nowhere Nation, and looking ahead at the start of something fresh and exciting in 2026”
