Council Roundup: Outstanding community leaders named as Mosman Citizens of the Year.

Mosman Rowers President Kathrina Doran has been named 2021 Mosman Citizen of the Year, while local school student George Scammell has been awarded Young Citizen of the Year.

The announcement followed a small citizenship ceremony welcoming 29 new citizens from 13 countries officiated by Mosman Mayor Carolyn Corrigan who was joined by Member for Warringah Zali Steggall, Member for North Shore Felicity Wilson and Mosman councillors on Australia Day.

Parking Apps

Mosman motorists will soon have access to two pay-by-app services following the introduction of the NSW government’s Park’nPay application to Mosman last July and the forthcoming introduction of an alternative app, CellOPark.

Both apps can be used to pay for parking in foreshore parking areas, including The Spit, Balmoral, Clifton Gardens, Rosherville Reserve and also near Taronga Zoo.

The CellOPark app enables users to begin payment when they arrive and end payment when they leave, thereby only paying for the time they occupy the parking spot, rather than having to estimate the time they will stay. CellOPark users will also not be charged for the ‘free’ three-hour period to which parking permit holders are entitled as the app automatically allows for that.

Users of the Park’nPay app can pay upon arrival, avoid fines by receiving notifications when parking is about to expire and top up via phone.

Back to School

With local students back at school this week, motorists are reminded to slow down and follow road rules during drop-offs and pick-ups.

School zones are back in operation between 8am and 9.30am and 2.30pm to 4pm and drivers can help ensure children’s safety by looking out for young pedestrians and slowing down to the 40km/h school zone speed limit.

Roundabout Upgrades

Two Mosman roundabouts have recently been upgraded and are being fitted out with new, ornamental plants.

Following Ausgrid works in the area, Council Engineers replaced the existing roundabouts at Cowles and Belmont Roads and Prince Street and Bardwell Road during the quieter December and January periods.

Pooch reminder!

Dog walkers and owners are reminded to be responsible pet owners as residents and their companions exercise outdoors amid the warmer weather.

Dogs must remain under effective control in Mosman’s on and off-leash areas and not negatively impact on others, including park users.

When using streets and public places dogs must be kept on leash except during designated hours in off-leash areas, such as Rawson Park and Sirius Cove Reserve, which are clearly signposted.

When using off-leash areas, owners should stay near their dog, keep a watchful eye on its behaviour and be ready to intervene at any time. Penalties may apply. For a full listing of all dog exercise areas in Mosman visit mosman.nsw.gov.au
