4 Buena Vista Ave, Mosman is on the market for the first time in nearly 30 years.

Last week’s $40 million landmark sale set a new benchmark in Mosman’s property market. This week, another significant listing has emerged: 4 Buena Vista Ave.

After 28 years, the vast estate at the end of an exclusive cul-de-sac is up for sale, offering 1,891 square meters of prime harbourside real estate.

The grand merchant mansion has a full championship sized tennis court.

The Queen Anne Federation, built by Smith and Cabban in 1897, is being marketed by Richard Simeon, who told Mosman Collective the magnificent residence is “beyond compare”.

“It is an iconic Mosman property that set a suburb record when it was last sold in 1996,” Mr Simeon said, “it is a treasured Sydney home unlike any other, offering the ultimate family lifestyle.”

“Down this end of Buena Vista Ave, there are just three grand merchant tennis court estates. These are incredible landmarks with harbour views across to Rose Bay. It’s a real trophy home.”

The elegant estate, built in 1897, has six bedrooms, three studies – and huge proportions.

With a 30m street frontage, the property has six bedrooms, three studies and an array of formal and informal entertaining spaces.

Beyond the heritage façade, sweeping covered verandas and sandstone flagging, the home boasts 425sq m of living space over two levels.

“It’s more than just a house, it’s a whole lifestyle,” Richard Simeon told Mosman Collective.

Although entirely updated throughout, the past has certainly not been forgotten, with leadlight windows, high moulded ceilings, grand archways and original kauri timber floorboards.

A Hamptons-inspired family and dining room with a gourmet chef’s kitchen opens to a sun-drenched alfresco terrace dining terrace, with a third living room connecting to the tennis court “perfect for children”, Mr Simeon said.

The property boasts a huge 425sq m of internal living space over two levels.

The Master Suite has walk-in robes, a sumptuous ensuite and a private verandah with incredible Sydney harbour views.

“After you’ve raised a family in a place like this, entertained the grandkids as well, that’s three generations who’ve celebrated the property,” Simeon says.

“It’s more than just a house; it’s a whole lifestyle.”

The merchant mansion was built by famed architects William Smith and Sydney Cabban.
