A Japanese café offering local diners’ breakfast, lunch and dinner is set for 801 Military Rd, the site of the old Rustique Bakery.
Called Yoichi, the eatery is the first venture north of the Harbour Bridge for the team behind Kyo Yakiniku, a popular Japanese BBQ in Glebe famous for its all-you-can-eat Buffet.

Yoichi will open (subject to approval) where Rustique Bakery was located at 801 Military Rd.
A Development Application lodged with Mosman Council this week confirms the restaurant will have seating for 20 and operate from 6am – 10pm, seven days a week, if approved.
“The development will provide an upgraded café seating and serving space in an area where there is a high demand for high quality food and drink premises,” documents lodged with Council say.
“As works are mostly limited to within the existing ground floor tenancy which has historically been used for the same use, there are no amenity or character impacts created.

The cafe will be open from 6am-10pm, seven days a week.

Banquette seating and Tasmanian oak tables will feature.

“The proposal will not alter the proportions of the existing traditional shop fronts.”
Plans by AGC Interiors show banquette seating, Tasmanian oak tables, a sushi display cabinet and bar seating at the front window, with windows opening to Military Rd.

CGI Images of the proposed Yoishi interior have been submitted to Mosman Council.
Notification of the application concludes on 18 September. If you wish to make a submission on the proposal you can submit online via the Application Tracker or by e-mail to [email protected]
