Free Webinar: Comedian Jean Kittson puts a positive spin on that awkward “End of Life” convo with Mum and Dad!
“I wrote this book because I wanted adult children to learn about helping ageing parents when the time comes,” says Australian comedian Jean Kittson, “but, just between us, I really wrote it so that my own daughters will know the right things to do for me.”
The lower north shore local, 64, is already well known for tackling confronting issues head on, and now has written a book to help others in the same boat.
With elderly parents of her own, Elaine (95) and Roy (92), Jean recently published a practical guide, “We Need To Talk About Mum & Dad”, on how best to support ageing loved ones.
Jean is set to share her insights at a special FREE webinar for residents keen to cut through aged care legalese and government jargon, on Thursday 18 June (1pm-2pm).
With a good dollop of humour, she will navigate topics like new living arrangements, legal documents, medical directives, government benefits and endless form filling, all of which Jean admits is “confronting stuff”.
North Sydney Mayor Jilly Gibson says the webinar is a great chance to learn more about a topic not often discussed.

“So much has changed, and keeps changing,” she tells Mosman Collective and In the Cove, “especially when it comes to the choices we have when taking care of elderly parents and loved ones.”
“I believe this free event will both entertain and equip people, to better support ageing family members.”
The webinar is hosted by North Sydney Council, in partnership with Lane Cove Council, Hornsby, Willoughby, Ku-Ring-Gai and Northern Beaches.
