Ice Skating rink opens in Mosman, just in time for the June school holidays!

Published On: June 23, 2021

Mosman’s first open-air ice-skating rink opens this weekend, and tickets are now on sale.

Set against Taronga Zoo’s historic gates, the pop-up Frozen Zoo is an all-ages experience running from Saturday 26 June to Sunday 11 July.

Ten skating sessions of 45 minutes are on each day between 10 am and 8 pm, with food and drink stalls offering winter warmers for visiting families.

Called Frozen Zoo, the attraction can cater for 160 skaters per session and sales from the rink will be used to support the zoo’s conservation efforts towards this year’s focus species, the Little Penguin.

Taronga says the ice-skating activity aims to encourage domestic tourists to the park as international border closures continue to impact visitor numbers.

There’s no denying the border closures have meant we’ve seen less international guests, however on the flip side, we’ve been heartened to see the support of local and domestic guests as they take the opportunity to get out and about and explore their backyard,” Taronga’s Simon Duffy said.

“We’re always looking for new ways to provide fun experiences to our visitors and connect them to the plight of wildlife – in this case, little penguins.”

Skating sessions run for 45 minutes and cost $23 for children aged five to 15, $25.20 for concessions and $26 for adults.

Children under four skate free with a paying adult, and your NSW Dine and Discover vouchers can be used.
