Tover Table

A new interactive table has been installed in the Creation Space outside Barry O’Keefe Library to help support adults living with dementia or intellectual disabilities.

Designed to challenge players at their own level to help develop or maintain skills in a fun and playful way, participants can choose from a range of games which work on physical, cognitive, social and sensory levels and can be used by those with cognitive challenges as well as their carers.

The innovative light projections prompt individual users or groups to try to move the interactive puzzles or images around a table top, stimulating movement, social interaction and engagement.

Contact the library on 9978 4090 or [email protected] to enquire about booking a session.

Festival of Mosman

Plans are underway for a comprehensive program of community events including an opening concert featuring local community groups, a night market and outdoor cinemas after Council last week confirmed that this year’s Festival of Mosman will run from Friday 20 October to Sunday 29 October.

Community groups are invited to start planning their own festival events and there will be an opportunity for sponsorship and engagement opportunities for local businesses.

The festival is held every two years with this year’s festival the first held since 2019 following the cancellation of the 2021 event due to the impacts of COVID-19.

To find out more about staging a community event or festival sponsorship opportunities email [email protected] or call 9978 4050.

Preparations are well underway for the 2023 Festival of Mosman.

Art Gallery Exhibitions

Local artists will be featured at Mosman Art Gallery over the coming weeks during the Artists of Mosman 2088 exhibition.

The exhibition, on show from 17 March to 23 April, is a survey exhibition of the region’s thriving artistic community and includes works created by Mosman residents as well as Friends and Volunteers of Mosman Art Gallery, incorporating painting, drawing, printmaking, textiles, photography, sculpture and ceramics.

On the ground floor In Profile exhibition space for solo artists, Terhi Hakola uses symbolism, Scandinavian mythology and narratives across installation, video, animation and painting, to examine universal human experiences.

Teen Mental Health

Council is launching a new program to improve mental health awareness and skills among high school students in years 10 to 12.

The course, which will be facilitated by accredited Mental Health First Aid trainers, aims to give teenagers the skills to recognise and support their friends experiencing mental health problems, such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, alcohol and drug use disorders and psychosis, and to seek help from adults and support services.

The sessions are fully subsidised by Mosman Council and will be held on Tuesdays on 9, 16 and 23 May from 4:30pm at Mosman Youth Centre. Interested students should register via the WEBSITE or email [email protected] for more information.

Bike enthusiasts are reminded that Mosman’s bike repair station at Hampshire Park near the Buena Vista Mosman is open for maintenance and repairs.

The station has a range of handy tools to help with general bike maintenance and quick repairs.

The stand includes an Allen Wrench, spanner and air pump.
