Progress Report: Here’s the latest update Mosman High School’s $54 million rebuild.

Main work on multi-million-dollar Mosman High School upgrade will begin after the HSC exams, with a progress report confirming construction is set to take at least 12 months.

Three buildings will be demolished, to make way for a new multi storey building and rooftop “multi-court”, plus a new gym and hall, library, canteen, science learning unit, performing arts space and administration facilities.

The community is now invited to see the transformation for themselves, by taking a virtual ‘walk through’ online.

In a newly released video, Principal Susan Wyatt greets local residents and students, providing an update on what to expect in the coming months.

“This is the most exciting build,” Ms Wyatt says, “we’re going from the old building to an incredible three to four storey building.”

“We will have 16 new classrooms, a wonderful and much expanded library space and a performing arts theatre as well as a hall that will be able to encourage basketball, volleyball and many other sports.

“The building will commence in early 2022 and it’s really exciting because the community is very much involved in this project.”

Ms Wyatt said Scots Kirk Presbyterian on Belmont Rd has offered temporary use of its church hall during construction, and Mosman RSL will make their auditorium accessible to provide learning spaces for students.

Member for North Shore Felicity Wilson said the upgrade will deliver the latest educational and teaching facilities for students and staff.

“The new building will feature flexible classrooms with state-of-the-art technology and is purposefully designed to enhance our students’ learning experience,” Ms Wilson said.

“These new collaborative spaces will enable our teachers to deliver an integrated curriculum, including creative arts and sports, in a more engaging and supportive environment.

“I encourage our local community to go online and wander through the virtual room, where you can hear from the Principal, watch a fly-through simulation, and also provide feedback or ask questions.”

NSW Minister for Education Sarah Mitchell said the new facilities will greatly benefit the whole school community and was pleased the NSW Government is delivering this record investment in public education infrastructure.

“This upgrade will be a great space to encourage student learning,” Ms Mitchell said.

“I want students in NSW to have access to modern learning spaces and this project at Mosman High School will deliver that for its students.”

The community is invited to visit the Virtual Information Room until Sunday 21 November. Parents can also learn more about the alternative arrangements in place for students during the build.
