The Pickled Possum re-opens this week and Sydney gets ready to Karaoke!

If you’ve made plans this Thursday night, cancel them.

Iconic Sydney dive bar The Pickled Possum re-opens at dusk and the lower north shore is PUMPED!

Named after the possums that once hung over its door frames, the dingy drinking hole first opened in 1981 and is renowned for its sticky carpet, dodgy décor, esky’s filled with beer – and a stage supported by milk crates.

The mysterious new owner, a man who goes by the name of “Possum Bob”, told Mosman Collective he’s thrilled to welcome revellers back to the tiny venue with “a huge heart”.

“It’s a famous night spot that has hosted many locals, along with international stars including Billy Joel, Janet Jackson and Hugh Jackman,” he said.

“The Pickled Possum is part of Sydney’s fabric. It has a huge heart and holds great memories for everyone who’s been there.”

Bob said it was important to preserve the bar’s history and has made only minor changes to The Pickled Possum’s interior. New carpet, clean surfaces and a re-built Karaoke stage will ensure the health and safety of late-night revellers.

“It has the same look and feel as it used to, and we can’t wait to welcome back our possum family who I know will continue to create great memories and have a good time,” Bob said.

“We also have a new Karaoke system with 90,000 songs including all the popular favourites.”

Opening every Wednesday to Sunday, the bar will host a range of events and signature nights including open mic night and Sunday sessions.
