Members from a local scout group have used their skills of independent thinking, problem solving and community interaction, to find a new way of fundraising for the Salvation Army’s Red Shield Appeal.

It was winter 1979 when a young family from far west NSW travelled to Sydney for the holiday of a lifetime. Dad John, mum Jenny and their two young children Damien and Craig enjoyed a week in the ‘big smoke’, before spending their final day sight-seeing on the lower north shore.

“I wrote this book because I wanted adult children to learn about helping ageing parents when the time comes,” says Australian comedian Jean Kittson.
